  • Review: The Sonos iPad APP

With a little practice, anyone can control all their music easily.

    Sonos' iPad app

Are you, like I am, tired of fighting with your sluggish and ill-behaved laptop computer? Are you fed up with juggling multiple remote controls when switching between Pandora, the radio, and your personal music library? When you get home from work and all you want to do is unwind to some relaxing tunes, the last thing you want to do is battle with temperamental technology. If you’re nodding your head in agreement, waiting for the solution to our (very) common problem, I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. There’s just no other way to say it: the SONOS Controller for iPad makes music fun again.

  • Review: Peerless HD Flow Wireless High Def.

Easy-to-use product lets you cut the HDMI cord.

    Peerless' HD Flow Wireless

There’s a time and a place for everything, unfortunately you can’t always find the time or the place to run a new HDMI cable clear across your house or your ceiling to hook up a home theater projector or a flat panel TV. Wouldn’t it be nice to connect said gear wirelessly?

Well, of course it would, but that’s like saying wouldn’t it be nice to get an actual photo of bigfoot. It doesn’t sound so hard, but then why don’t people do it every day? Wireless high def has been launched, tried, retracted and tried again several times over the past few years. A few TVs have been shown with wireless HDMI built in, but the concept has never really caught on commercially, despite how excited people get at the CES press conferences.

So let’s say I was slightly skeptical when the Peerless HD Flow product showed up. Peerless primarily makes mounts for projectors and flat panel TVs, so why should the company care about wireless high-def transmission? Probably because if it were easier to get signals anywhere in the house, people would...

  • The Poetry of Motion

MartinLogan’s newest loudspeakers have us questioning the old adage about getting what you pay for

The sad fact of the matter is that most readers of Home Entertainment will take one look at the prices of MartinLogan’s new Motion Series loudspeakers and never even consider auditioning them. That’s a curious thing to say, perhaps, in a publication that has reviewed and enthusiastically endorsed speaker systems with stickers comparable to a Porsche 911 Carrera 4, but without the installment plans or leasing options.

  • Linn Majik DS-I Review

Brèagha ceòl: Linn's new Majik DS-I combines the best bits of their digital player, preamp and digital amplification, all squeezed into one package.

To be honest, I think Linn is an odd company.

Looking at their product lines, you have to wonder if they lack a decent spell-check or are just lifting names straight out of the Ikea catalog.

  • iPad @ hOme

Sure it's cool and trendy, but what can the iPad do for the A/V Enthusiast? Well, quite a lot it turns out.

Somewhere after the time the fanboy lines abate and before it cures cancer or something, the iPad turns out to be a ridiculously useful device for the ePerson.

  • Pass Labs INT-30A Review

The Pass Laboratories INT-30A integrated amplifier doesn't do much, and that's what makes it great!

I've probably reviewed well over a hundred amplifiers, but I can't say I've ever really heard one. I'm always listening to an amplifier driving a speaker, so the sound is really the combination of the two.

I'm pretty sure Nelson Pass has not only listened to more amps and speakers than I have, he's designed more than a few of my favorite high-end amps.
